Building on Nearly 50 Years of Service with The Coronado Senior Association
July 8,2026

For nearly 50 years, the Coronado Senior Association (CSA) has been an important part of Coronado’s senior community. Founded in 1978, CSA has created opportunities for older adults to stay connected, build friendships, and remain engaged. Today, CSA is led by a dedicated group of six women who volunteer their time to keep this longstanding organization moving forward. CSA continues its tradition of connection through its popular weekly Bingo every Monday from 12:30–4:00 PM at the John D. Spreckels Center, along with its Spring, Summer, and Christmas luncheons and other activities for local seniors.
As Coronado has grown, so have the needs of its senior population. When CCF identified a growing need for additional services, we thought: Who better to work alongside than an organization that has been serving Coronado seniors for nearly five decades?
CCF is helping strengthen CSA by recruiting new board members and supporting the organization’s long-term sustainability. CCF has also provided CSA with a dedicated phone line, 619-996-3070, giving seniors a reliable way to connect with the organization, ask questions, and learn about available programs and services.
Alongside CSA, CCF launched Neighbors Helping Neighbors, Phase Two of the Neighbors in Need initiative, providing free services to Coronado seniors.
In addition to Seniors A GoGo, the free transportation program through ElderHelp of San Diego, Neighbors Helping Neighbors provides:
Errands, including grocery shopping and prescription pick-ups
Help at Home
Friendly Visits
Caregiver Respite
With the help of CSA and dedicated community volunteers, we’re continuing to grow these resources and respond to the needs of Coronado’s older adults. Together, we are honoring CSA’s longstanding legacy while expanding the support available to Coronado seniors today.

To celebrate the launch of Neighbors Helping Neighbors, CCF brought together volunteers, donors, Board members, Advisors, and community members for coffee and pastries at Buona Forchetta. The gathering was an opportunity to officially kick off the expanded program, bring together the people helping make it possible, and recognize the incredible volunteers already making a difference in the lives of Coronado seniors.
A special highlight of the morning was presenting Certificates of Appreciation to our dedicated volunteer drivers. Through their time and commitment, these volunteers have helped local seniors get to medical appointments, run errands, attend social activities, visit friends and family, and stay connected to the community they call home.
As these efforts continue to grow, CCF looks forward to working alongside CSA, our volunteers, and community partners to ensure Coronado seniors have access to the resources, connections, and support they need for years to come.
