In Collaboration with:

CAMP ABLE CORONADO

The Coronado Community Foundation, in collaboration with Camp Able and Friends of the Coronado Public Library, created the Exceptional Families Program (EFP) to bring youth and adults with special needs, along with their families, together through monthly activities that foster inclusion, belonging, and meaningful engagement.

Since its launch in April 2024, Jenelle Nettles, Director of Camp Able, has overseen the program’s logistics and operations with the support of dedicated staff and volunteers. EFP has continued to grow, with increasing attendance and families returning month after month to connect, build friendships, and share meaningful experiences.

Arts-focused workshops held in the Coronado Public Library’s Winn Room have become a highlight of the program. Events such as Storytelling with Costumes, the Fall Art Studio, and the Holiday Craft Party have welcomed more than 100 participants, offering creative and inclusive experiences for individuals of all ages and abilities.

More than a series of monthly activities, EFP is creating a community where exceptional families can form lasting connections, find support, and experience a true sense of belonging right here in Coronado.

Interested in joining us at an EFP Event?

We’d love to welcome you! If you’re interested in participating in the EFP, attending an upcoming event, or learning more about EFP, please email Jenelle Nettles, Director of Camp Coronado, director@campableatcoronado.org.

Our Collaboration:

The Coronado Community Foundation (CCF) identifies unaddressed community needs, connects community members, facilitates the funding and initiation of projects, and evaluates the results to ensure effective use of resources and sustainable programs.  By building the collaboration and raising the necessary funds, CCF intends to facilitate the launch of these programs in March of 2024.
